Background.
I can't remember a time when Music wasn't a part of my life.
Coming from a musical family, listening to and playing music of all styles was always encouraged. Being given the opportunity to learn to play the Piano at an early age, I took this opportunity on board with great enthusiasm and passion and have never looked back. As I became more confident during my formal training, many opportunities arose for me: I became the school accompanist at around the age of 11 and before long I was playing at church services, at wedding ceremonies and receptions, funerals, community concerts and accompanying singers and instrumentalists at local Eisteddfods. I have also experienced playing in small ensembles and orchestras.
It has taught me so much about many of the skills we need to live our lives well: self discipline, patience, perseverance, time management, empathy, appreciation and team-work.
I have been sharing my knowledge of music and guiding people through the skills needed to play the piano for 12 years now. Prior to this I was a classroom teacher for 20 years, so I have had many years of experience working with children of all ages. I also love to teach adults. My oldest student is 81!!
Each of my students comes to me with different life experiences and from different backgrounds. I always endeavour to plan each student's programme to cater for their individual needs and interests, depending on their age level, with a strong focus on fun, enjoyment and instilling in them the joy that I have come to know and experience through playing.
